Try the mouth-watering pizza and wine at Montpellier Wine Estate

Montpellier Wine Estate is home to award-winning wines and delicious wood-fired pizzas. It is a wonderful winter’s day out in the heart of Tulbagh. The estate is simply magnificent. With over 300 years of history, the Cape Dutch architecture and well kept grounds create a beautiful atmosphere. The estate also offers accommodation and events. 

Montpellier’s wine makers have been producing award winning wines for centuries and they are not about to stop now. Whilst all their wines are excellent, the flagship Shiraz is most certainly deserving of its status. It boasts soft tannins with notes of dark chocolate and blackberry and is matured for 12 months in oak. If you are in search of a value wine – Spyseniersberg Blue Label White Blend is it. It is fresh and elegant. We suggest you savour the experience and enjoy a tasting in their well-appointed venue. A tasting is R60 per person for five wines. 

Pizzas and wine tastings are available throughout the week but the rest of the menu is only available on weekends. Their pizza is quite exceptional; with the wood-fire oven making all the difference. We would highly recommend ‘The Poppier’ with its blend of sweet chili, bacon and jalapenos. If you are in search of something different, the homemade burger with chakalaka is also fantastic.
